The active cultivation of young academics is the central goal of the Helmholtz Association. In addition to the structured education of doctoral candidates and Helmholtz university groups of young academics, all 15 Helmholtz centres are already getting involved in conducting student labs. Every year, around 40,000 students take advantage of the programme. With the initiative "Little Scientist´s House", the Helmholtz association now also promotes early-childhood education in the area of natural sciences.
The international corporate consultancy McKinsey & Company has advocated an improved educational system in Germany since 2001. In doing so, the company founded the initiative "McKinsey bildet" [McKinsey educates]; the focus of its work since 2005 constitutes early-childhood education. McKinsey calls for a programme funded with billions for the improved care and education of preschoolers, more equal opportunity and the improved qualification of educators.
With the support of the "Little Scientist´s House", the Siemens Foundation seeks to give children playful access to phenomena and contexts of the natural sciences and technology. This keeps with Siemens AG's tradition of playing an active role in the area of education and social responsibility.
Named after the founder of the SAP software company, the Dietmar Hopp Stiftung gGmbH is one of the largest private foundations in Europe. Since 1995, it has donated a total of nearly 200 million Euros for charitable causes. The focus of its advocacy lies on the areas of medicine, social issues, athletics and education.
